Just a few minutes from Domodossola, along one of the beautiful gateways into Val Grande, Trattoria Stazione embodies the idea of a scattered restaurant, where the genuine soul of the Val d’Ossola can be discovered through flavors and the quality of local products.

A family-run restaurant where traditional cuisine meets culinary creativity, in a welcoming balance that makes everyone feel at home.

At lunchtime, we serve a welcoming selection of Ossola’s best flavors.

In the evening, our à la carte menu becomes a journey through the tastes of our garden and the surrounding land.

The Garden

We grow our own garden with love to capture its essence and share it with respect – an oasis of locally sourced flavors expressed through traditional recipes and fresh products from our small shop.

The Mountain Lodge

For those who wish to continue exploring the Ossola region, Rifugio Parpinasca offers a true taste of the mountains and its traditional dishes, at the gateway to the wonderful Val Grande.

A trail suitable for everyone – whether you choose to explore it on foot or ride up with one of our e-bikes.

Our Story

Luca, our chef patron, discovered his passion for cooking at a young age, a passion that has guided his journey ever since.
He studied at Istituto Alberghiero “Mellerio Rosmini” in Domodossola, and began his career collaborating with several local restaurants in the Ossola area.

Today, he brings with him the experience of working in both starred and multi-starred kitchens / in several Michelin-starred kitchens
– from “Piccolo Lago” in Mergozzo, to Enrico Bartolini’s “Mudec” in Milan, and Chef Danilo Bortolin “Grand Hotel Majestic” in Verbania.

In November 2022, Luca decided to invest his heart in this land and its unique flavors – deciding to do so in his hometown, Trontano.
A place just a few steps from the heart of the Val d’Ossola, where the mountains begin and the quiet life of small rural villages can already be felt.

“I chose Trontano because it’s accessible yet unspoiled. People don’t just pass through – they come here to experience an authentic valley and everything it has to offer.”

The Territory

Trattoria Stazione is located in Trontano, a village nestled in the lower Val d’Ossola, at the gateway to Val Grande.
It is a genuine and untouched place where the mountains are close, time slows down, and nature sets the rhythm of the seasons.
The restaurant took shape right here, surrounded by vineyards, forests, working mills, and trails that begin just beyond our doors and lead up into the hills.

Those who stop for lunch or dinner can extend the experience with a walk through the village – among historic ovens and old wine presses – or venture towards Rifugio Parpinasca, reachable also by bike, for a full immersion in the heart of Val Grande.

Our Flavors

Our dishes are born first among the garden rows, then in skilled hands following local recipes.
Fresh vegetables are harvested each morning just before being served, combined with selected cheeses, cured meats, and fruit picked at the perfect moment.

Our menu is guided by respect for the land – not just as a label, but as a daily promise. Even our wines tell the story of the hills surrounding Trontano.

And for those who wish to take a piece of this world home, our small shop – renewed yet faithful to its roots – is a daily treasure chest: fresh bread every morning, milk, cured meats, preserves, and a carefully curated selection of products that need no introduction – only to be tasted.

The Vigezzina-Centovalli Train

Trontano is more than just a place to stop for a meal – it’s the ideal starting point to discover the Val d’Ossola, experience it up close, and perhaps stay a little longer.

Right in front of our restaurant, which takes its name from the village’s historic station, runs the famous panoramic Vigezzina-Centovalli train.
A slow, scenic journey through forests, suspended bridges, and mountain villages, all the way to Switzerland.
In autumn, it offers one of nature’s most breathtaking scenery: the foliage.

And if you would like to prolong the pleasure of these mountains, you can stay overnight in one of our two guest rooms, in partnership with the restaurant.
